In the spirit of 'Art Law', a 2 part session - workshop was conducted with artists', art workers and students in Vienna.

Session 1:

Introduction to Art Law and Contracts. What is Art Law? What are its’ foundations? How is the art market regulated? How are art objects protected by regulated? What existing legal tools help to protect artists’ rights, local as well international? Key exhibitions in art history will be discussed for the evolutionary movements for contractual obligations between artists’, art workers and art institutions for labour struggles and working conditions from a transnational framework.

Session 2:

Racial injustice and identity politics are intertwined in law and have been contested within the art world. This workshop optimised art movements & exhibitions in the canon of art history to explore race issues and the law, for the evolution of art world regulations to the protection of artists’ and art workers rights on diversity and inclusion.

The workshop also gave a recap to the previous Session’s discussions (conducted on March 22, 2021) on seminal exhibitions on private law contracts and the future of contracts for best practices in an opaque maze of an unregulated art world during covid-19.

The workshop was conducted with the generous support of the Student Union (HuFaK) at the University of Applied Arts Vienna.
